Skateistan, Afghanistan's first ever Skateboarding school

In the spring of 2007, three NGO workers started teaching Afghan youth how to ride skateboards. The terrain of Kabul is riddled with potholes and rocky roads. For this reason they had to resort to using the local Amani high school for smooth payment. Now the idea is gaining momentum and the 3 founders of "Skateistan" are going to build the first skate school and skate park in the country. The sport has great appeal to the younger generation as there are not a lot of forms of entertainment available for them. .
